Vol.1: Causes of ED: Social Stress

There can be various causes of ED. Aging, diabetes, high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, smoking and so on can cause arteriosclerosis and also lowering of the bloodstream in the penile artery. Actually, it is said that more than 80 percent of the diabetic patients and more than 60 percent of the high blood pressure and hyperlipidemia patients occur in conjunction with ED. Besides, the intrapelvic operation (prostatic cancer, rectum cancer and so on) and nerve disorder (cerebral hemorrhage, brain tumor, Parkingson’s disease, Alzheimer disease and so on), prostatauxe and so on can cause ED as well. These types of ED, which are caused by vessel or nerve problems are called organic ED (organic causes of ED include oxidation stress, but I’ll explain about this another time)

However, I have become aware that there are so many patients who have no reason to be suffering from the organic ED but they actually have obvious symptoms of ED, when examining them.

Most of these cases are called psychogenic ED. This is classified into “deep psychogenic causes of ED” which are caused by issues at a deep psyche level such as trauma which occurred in their childhood and “realistic psychogenic causes of ED” which is caused by the stress and overstrain in daily life or having trouble with partner and so on, when classifying it in a precise sense. However this classification is slightly complicated, many patients are classified to “realistic psychogenic causes of ED”. Why can the stress and overstrains cause ED? So the key word here is “sympathetic nerve”.

Briefly explained, the sympathetic nerve is the nerve which becomes predominant when you are working or feeling tension. On the other hand, when you are relaxing or sleeping, the parasympathetic nerve becomes predominant. When working late at work, the sympathetic nerve becomes predominant of course. However, relaxation rather than tension is actually necessary to get an erection. In other words, when the sympathetic nerve continues to be dominant by being overstrained and stressed, this situation logically is easier to cause ED.

Well then, can the psychogenic ED be cured by resting well and removing stress? I can say that the answer is YES, but I have to say that such a thing is realistically difficult. Moreover, once experiencing failure in a sexual relationship, you become more stressed, as a result, there is a possibility to fall into a vicious cycle. The ED curatives which are represented by sildenafil (Viagra) are very effective for the psychogenic ED as well, because it’s overwhelmingly effective on ED improvement. Improvements in the distress caused by ED would help to bring about a balance in the virtuous cycle of work and home life. Besides this, it would also help to give back a man’s pride as well. The approach to the ED treatment isn’t as difficult as it’s actually thought to be. All our staff at this practice helps many patients to experience the positive effects of treatment.
