Minoxidil Tablets prescription

Our clinic also prescribes Minoxidil tablets for oral administration.
Oral Minoxidil (tablet form) may be more effective for hair loss than Topical Minoxidil.
Oral Minoxidil is a medication that can get a strong treatment effect for AGA, and it can be further effective on concomitant use with Propecia, generic Propecia, or Zagallo.

What is Minoxidil?

Minoxidil has a history of being initially developed as a treatment for hypertension (high blood pressure). Similar in this respect to Propecia, which was also first invented as a treatment for being prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Minoxidil can help enhance hair regrowth by improving blood flow to the scalp and increasing a substance called VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor).

Proper Use of Oral Minoxidil

Oral Minoxidil is a prescription medication available in dosages of 2.5mg, 5mg, and 10mg tablets.
For AGA treatment, a daily dose of about 5mg (5mg tablets once a day or 2.5mg twice a day, for example) is often a starting dose. The dosage may be increased to 10mg if necessary.
Considering the side effects, high doses from the start are not encouraged.
Only 5mg tablets are available at our clinic.

Oral Minoxidil Side Effects

Minoxidil, as mentioned above, was developed as a medicine for hypertension. For this reason, side effects may occur due to the impacts on the circulatory system.
Most side effects may go away when stopping the dosage of Minoxidil.
Common side effects include the following:

  • Headache, dizziness, palpotatons, shortness of breath

These side effects may occur due to thte vasodilating effects of antihypertensive drugs. sideeffects are generally minimal from the start, and most improve or are much less bothersome with time.

  • Excessive hair growth

Unwanted hair growth in other areas is also the common side effects while taking the dose. This side effect is not often with Propecia or Zagallo.
Minoxidil, as a medication for hypertension, has a history that many patients showed an increase in their hair and body hair after taking it, leading to its use as atreatment for AGA.

  • Facial redness

Vasodilatation may cause reddening of the face.

  • Edema

Edema may appear in the hands and face after administration. Decrease the dosage or frequency of administration may be necessary for improvement.

  • Erectile Dysfunction (ED), low libido

As with Propecia or Zagallo, these side effects may occur after dosing.
However, the cause is unknown as the mechanism of action indicates that minoxidil is unlikely to cause ED.
Psychological influences may also be a factor.

  • Low blood pressure

The symptoms of low blood pressure may get more frequent when taken by those with low blood pressure.

  • Initial hair loss or shedding

As with other AGA drugs, the amonut of hair loss may increase in the initial stages of dosing, but this is only temporary and most improve with time.Please continue to take the dose.

  • Other

There have been rare reports of pericardial effusions, angina pectoris, and pulmonary hypertension.

Oral Minoxidil Precautions

Oral Minoxidil, as with other drugs for AGA, requires about six months to evaluate the effects. You can start feeling the benefit of hair restoration around three months if it works on you.
Please do not increase your dosage at your discretion even though you do not feel the effects.
Please consult with medical professionals before deciding on concomitant use with Propecia or Zagallo.
